Kiana Grace is born...

Well... Kiana Grace has arrived!!! She was born on June 18th at 7:06am weighing 7 lb and 13 oz.

On Fathers Day, Suzy started going into labor in the afternoon. Mostly back labor. We couldn't tell if it was "real" or just braxton hicks. Elizabeth and Suzy were hanging out for the day and went to Walgreens to get Castor Oil to speed labor up. While in Walgreens, we were seeing some progression and Elizabeth decided to time them "just for fun." By the time we were back home, we realized that Suzy was in labor. We starting packing, playing cards, and anything to stay distracted. Our "doula," Cindi Turchek (who is AMAZING!!!) came over around 10pm and helped us labor at home for a while and at the hospital.

Around 12:30 during the night we left to Rose hospital to check in. Suzy was 3cm and 100% effaced (sp?). We labored NATURALLY - yes, that's right -no pain medications, no epidural, or IVs or anything. It was intense and crazy. :-). Suzy almost gave up the whole natural thing early in the morning, but we pressed on. By 6am-ish, Suzy was 9cm (I think). Just a little later, the doctor broke her water and not long after we started pushing. 7:06am, "Baby Girl" arrived with a full head of dark hair :-).

We were so excited and thrilled to meet her. We love her so much and can't wait to help raise this precious girl!!!

Last pic before baby girl arrives!!!

I have been meaning to post on here for a LONG TIME! It has been hard to
find the time.

Here are some pics of Suzy the week before her due date - 40 weeks! Yikes!

Matt finally put on his weight too :-) :

It's amazing what happens in 9 months! We were scared and excited over this whole new chapter of our lives and now we just can't wait to meet her. It's amazing how your interests change during this time. Going to Babies 'R Us sounds like so much fun now and watching baby shows on tv is just as exciting. I had never walked into Babies R Us until just 3 months ago.

This is funny - but I could not wait to receive our pack n play and stroller. These are pretty vital pieces. We can't leave the hospital without the car seat - and she is going to sleep in the bassinet pack 'n play while we are still living in the apartment for now. (I actually did not even know what a pack 'n play was 9 months ago). Check it out:

Also, thank you to my sisters and mom who went in together for the great stroller. This is a picture of the pattern. The stroller is awesome. All we need is baby now to put in our new baby stuff!

I counted the other day and this baby will have flown 18 segments in the womb! Crazy, huh! Things will have to slow down pretty soon though!

3d ultrasound pictures

Technology is pretty amazing these days that you can actually see her and some of her features. They did say her body parts might not be in proporion yet, like her nose and ears. So introducing Baby Girl (still working on a name) Harting at 28 weeks....

Arbonne - for your health

Lots of Arbonne going on lately! Not too much as this is not even remotely a full-time job. But my plan is to take off for the summer for the baby - gotta love residual income, getting paid even when you aren't working.

I recently was sent this article, - It just makes me so appreciative of Arbonne. Not just because of the gifts Matt and I are given because of this business, BUT because of their products and integrity. SO check this out for your health... pretty scary....

HEALTH ANSWERS

Can you tell from the labels whether cosmetics contain ingredients that may be harmful?

In most cases, no, although a coalition of environmentalists known as the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is trying to change this, with some success.

In 2005, one of the members of the campaign, the Environmental Working Group, a watchdog organization in Washington, D.C., issued a report in which it compared ingredients in 7,500 personal care products against lists of known or suspected chemical health hazards. It found that one in every 120 cosmetic items, including shampoos, lotions, makeup foundations, and lip balms, contain known or probable CARCINOGENS.

The Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association, a trade group, said that "thousands of scientific studies have been done on cosmetics and their ingredients" and that the industry determines the products "are safe before they are sold to consumers."

Government oversight of the cosmetic industry is minimal. The US Food and Drug Administraion is not authorized to approve cosmetics before they go on the market, although many products that consumers think of as cosmetics like sunscreen and antidandruff shampoo are actually classified as over-the-counter drugs and hence must get FDA approval. In 2005, the agency said it was setting cosmetic safety as a top priority, but it has taken limited action since then.

The honeymoon -Jan 11 -16

The honeymoon was a blast. Very relaxing and fun! But from any true vacation - you need a vacation from a vacation. We are still recovering and getting things back in order at home. For the honeymoon, we spent our time on a cruise from Florida visiting Key West, Cozumel, and then spending a night in Ft. Lauderdale. We also took some time to watch The Pursuit of Happiness - which we both highly recommend and enjoyed!

We have many highlights and memories which you can see in the slideshow. If you hold your cursor over the photograph, you can see the caption and comment! You can also speed up or slow down the speed of the slideshow - Enjoy!!!

The Holiday Blizzard Wedding

Who would have thought that we would be married during a BLIZZARD!!! Some people think snow is beautiful, Suzy on the other hand, only thinks snow is appropriate for snowboarding ONLY - it should stay in the mountains. All in all, the wedding was incredible and the snow played a great background for photos.

The weekend did not go without a little stress though. Due to the weather, the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner were cancelled and even the wedding was moved to Sunday afternoon for a few hours (and then we moved it back). I know the weather affected so many of our friends and family too. Suzy's oldest sister, Georgia, and her entire family got stuck in Burlington, CO - only 3 hours away, but roads & highways were closed in all directions so they camped out in a hotel for a few days. We were praying and hoping for them to make it, but they did miss the ceremony and made it in to Denver the following day. It was still great to see them afterward, but very sad to not have them at the wedding. We also missed a bridesmaid, Kelly, and a groomsman, John, who were unable to fly & drive into Denver as the darn Blizzard put a kink in everyone's plans!

The wedding was perfect though and we had great sunshine all day for December 30th. We have great memories from it all! Thank you to everyone for the well wishes and sharing this special event with us - if you were there or there in spirit!
